According to the New York Times, both Adobe and Microsoft have been in collaboration talks to limit the grip Apple has on the mobile hard- and software market. An acquisition would have been part of the talks.
According to the NYT, both Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer and Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen would have been present in this meeting at the Adobe HQ.
If Microsoft would buy Adobe, it would get hold of the most successful photo, video and web authoring tools as well as Flash, the prime competitor to Microsoft’s Silverlight platform and at the same time a tool to develop on Apple’s iOS platform. Because Microsoft is no longer dominating the space, an acquisition of Adobe would likely be approved by the authorities. Still, we think such a move is unlikely to happen anytime soon.
Congratulations
