HP has announced the release of the sourcecode it has developed for the kernel of the HP TouchPad. HP initially released the HP TouchPad with their WebOS system on board. Since that failed, HP is clearly abandoning WebOS and allowing consumers to switch to Android.
It was no surprise that HP was developing an Android build for their TouchPad. When sales failed, several consumers already reported buying a new TouchPad with Android pre-installed (which it didn’t notice on the box). With the release of the source code, much more Android builds for the TochPad are to be expected.
