Facebook Looking to Develop their own Smartphone (again)

May 28th, 2012 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: Facebook | No Comments »

Again, rumours surface that Facebook has interest in developing their own smartphone. To do so, Facebook is rumoured to have hired staff from Apple that worked on the iPhone.

In total, Facebook is said to have hired 6 former Apple employees. This move marks the third time Facebook would be working on an own mobile phone. In the past, HTC, Motorola and INQ have already been developing smartphones with a strong Facebook branding.

If rumours are right this time around, it is still strange Facebook hires only 6 people. Why not just buy HTC or RIM? Facebook should have the cash for that and it would save the company a lot of effort to get their Facebook devices produced and distributed.
