Dutch content providers want open mobile internet

Several big Dutch content providers like newspapers, banks and entertainment companies like MTV and Endemol have announced they will research the problems in the acceptance and billing toward consumers for use of the mobile internet. The companies have as a joined goal to open us the mobile internet and get consumers to look past the operator’s portal. They have hired Forrester Research to track the market potential.

Today I was going over all information I have over the mobile games industry and figured it might be worth sharing some stuff with you. One of those things is my library of bookmarks. I am currently putting them all in del.icio.us and have made some direct links on the bottom of the right column. Also added, are the pictures I have taken during some of the events I was at. They are not top quality as it’s mostly taken with a crappy camera, but next time I will take a better one with me and actually make some better photo’s regarding mobile

MOTOGames launched in China

Motorola announced it’s release of the MOTOGames virtual hypermart for the Chinese market. MOTOGames informs the consumers about games and allows them to download and run demo versions. Downloading can happen both from the mobile phone and from the PC. The first device to support the MOTOGames hypermart is the Motorola E680g. This device is also optimised to support online games from publisher Shanda next to the regular J2me games.

Bango’s goes D2C

Following companies like Sharewire, Bango now announced their D2C billing schemes. Bango noticed the need for such billing mechanisms as companies like Hands-On pursuit building up their own branded D2C channels to serve a personal customer base. It comes at no surprise that several big content publishers like Hands-On, Capcom and Codemasters already signed up for the service.

Start-Up Cellufun Targets Emerging Multi-Player Mobile Gaming Market

Cellufun, LLC today announced the successful closing of its Series A financing, led by Vaux Les Ventures. The mobile gaming company will use the proceeds to accelerate the development and launch of its multi-player gaming portal, cellufun.com.
"The mobile game market is undergoing explosive growth," explained Miles Spencer, Managing Partner at Vaux Les Ventures and host of the popular PBS television show on business development, Money Hunt. "Our investors are excited about the opportunity to participate in a clearly differentiated player at an early stage of its growth." Jamdat games available at RadioShack

Sprint PCS and Cingular Wireless L.L.C. subscribers now can buy titles from Jamdat Mobile Inc. at more than 5,000 RadioShack Corp. outlets, the electronics retailer said.
RadioShack sales associates will use a branded in-store Web interface to educate users about mobile games, and purchases are billed through monthly carrier invoices. The retailer said it hopes to sell games through other carriers soon. Read on …
IGDA Creates Special Interest Group for Mobile Games

The International Game Developers Association, recognizing the quickly growing sector of mobile games, has formed a new special interest group to deal with all issues in the mobile space.
