GetJar has formed a new strategy to increase traffic to its already popular app channels. It will now be buying complete mobile games from developers in order to give them away for free on their portal.
The free games should drive new traffic and give publishers a reason to invest in premium placement for their paid or ad-funded titles. This model is called GetJar+ and is being tested with Glu’s K.O. Boxing game. According to GetJar, this promo led to 100.000.000 extra downloads on a monthly basis.
