iCE Amsterdam Summary

March 8th, 2011 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Events & Conferences | No Comments »

Yesterday, MGB attended the iCE event in Amsterdam. iCE is a two-day congress aimed at mobile developers as well as business developers and strategists. Next to the congress, the event also organized iPhone, Android and Windows Phone 7 DevCamps.

First speaker up was Ajit Jaoker (Futuretext) who explained the correlation between the succes of Twitter as communication platform and Apple as a platform for apps.

Maarten Sonneveld from Microsoft was there to explain a bit more on the cooperation between Nokia and Microsoft and what that will bring to developers as well as the current position for Microsoft being the underdog fighting for a spot in the market. Microsoft currently holds 3.4% of the market. 93% of Windows Phone owners are happy with their device and 90% recommends Windows Phone 7 to their friends and family.

Joe Pezzillo (PushIO) explained that in a few years from now, everybody can publish an app based primarily on the availability of wysiwyg editors like AppMakr. The revolution of those will bring down the number of custom developed apps. The reason why personal apps will be more popular than personal mobile websites is because you have the feeling of owning an app while the mobile website will always be part of the cloud.
