Nissan Uses Mobile Games as Marketing Instrument

October 15th, 2007 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Marketing Strategies | 2 Comments »

NissanIn order to inform consumers about Nissans newest car, the Nissan Rogue, Nissan will push a lot of free mobile content toward consumers consisting of wallpapers and a Nissan branded mobile game.

The system is quick and simple as consumers only have to enter their mobile phone number into the banners that will be displayed on many websites. After that they receive a link via SMS and can start consuming the free mobile content offering.

"While the mobile medium is a perfect fit for the Nissan Rogue brand, we knew that we had to make it easy for consumers to discover and ultimately acquire the Rogue mobile content. We achieve this by combining the broad reach of the online medium with the simplicity of our new ‘Online2Mobile’ rich media ad units." said Robert Brown, Senior Manager of Interactive Marketing at Nissan North America.

I think Nissan has been doing some interesting things with the Rogue campaign. The Maze Master videos transitioned well into their commercial (you can see the full set of videos here: http://youtube.com/profile?user=TheMazeMaster)
and I can see how the mobile games would be a neat next step!
