The Facebook Phone Rumor Summery

September 20th, 2010 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: Facebook | No Comments »

Over the past few days, rumors show that Facebook would be working on its own mobile operating system and hardware. How much of that is true? Read on…

TechCrunch kicked off the rumor, detailing that the social network was planning to sell custom facebook hardware to their users. Businesswire jumped in saying the Facebook phone would surely be supporting a custom version of Google Android. Shortly after, Facebook officially stated it was not working on any of such plans.

Facebook did state it is and has been working on tight integration with current phones and that some of these are described as being Facebook Phones. A sample of such a phone would be that of INQ a few years ago.
