Metismo Opens Vektrax Source Code

December 2nd, 2008 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Marketing Strategies | No Comments »

Metismo
Vektrax, a game that was originally designed as a technology demo for Metismo's Bedrock porting platform, is going open source. With the source code, Metismo hopes to help developers to better understand the power of their platform.

“Vektrax started out as a 3D technology demo of our Bedrock middleware, designed to illustrate how a title could be developed in Java and then cross-compiled to native platforms and use OpenGL ES.” Commented John Chasey, CEO of Metismo. “However feedback on the title was so positive we decided to release the iPhone version of the game on the App Store where we have had fantastic reviews.”

Bedrock's rapid production environment and device database enable developers to prototype, develop and target mobile games to hundreds of handsets. Its cross compiler converts Java source code to native C++, with OpenGL ES support, simultaneously deploying your product to Apple iPhone, Android, BREW, Symbian, Windows Mobile and more.

The fully commented source code for Vektrax will be released to current and new licensees of Bedrock.
